Zvyozdochka is Russia's leading manufacturer of blades (1.5 to 6 m in diameter) for controllable pitch propellers. Presently, the plant is engaged in the production of unique Azipod-type bronze propellers for the Eagle and Fantasy cruise super liners built by the Finnish Kvaerner Masa Yards. These propellers are unique in that they are not standard pusher-type propellers but rotatable shroud puller propellers. The contract for the production of propellers for the Fantasy super liner has already been fulfilled and the propellers have been sent to the user. Four propellers (about 5.6 m in diameter and up to 28 tons each) for the Eagle will be shipped to Helsinki on special railway cars.
